Two local organizations among Touchstone finalists
Nine finalists for Touchstone Awards have been announced by the Duluth-Superior Area Community Foundation.
Among the nine are the Grand Marais Art Colony and friends of the Finland Community.
The 2011 Touchstone Award honors nonprofit programs and projects that exemplify leadership in fostering the values of generosity, civic engagement and inclusiveness.
This year, four organizations will receive grants in the amount of $2,500 in the categories of generosity, civic engagement and inclusiveness.
The awards ceremony is set to begin at noon on Oct. 18 at the DECC Harbor Side Ballroom.
Other finalists include CHOICE, unlimited, Duluth Task Force for Police Accountability, Madeline Island Anishinaabeg Gathering Organizing Committee, Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank, Range Transitional Housing, College of St. Scholastica – Alworth Center for Peace and Justice Lectures, and Sustainable Twin Ports.
