Both the bear and moose seasons end on Sunday, Oct. 16. According to DNR Assistant Area Wildlife Manager Dave Ingebrigtsen, harvest numbers are down.

So far in Cook County 129 bear have been registered compared with a 2010 season total of 143.

The number of permits issued for the 16-day moose hunt were cut in half this season. So far 16 moose have been registered. Last season 41 were registered.

Ingebrigtsen said a few more animals may be added between now and season’s end, but he doesn’t expect the harvest to be close to last year’s totals.
