Superintendent makes change to ISD166 to staff cuts
Among the staff cuts originally listed as a part of budget balancing for Cook County Schools ISD166, was one that should not have been there.
According to Superintendent Beth Schwarz, “Lorelei Livingston will not lose her job. I missed a less senior teacher who has a license that allows her to bump into a different area. I am not exactly sure who is going to be impacted but I have to now reevaluate the situation and figure out where the other 1.0 reduction is coming from.”
Teacher contracts allow qualified staff to move (bump) into positions less qualified personnel may hold. A 1.0 reduction stands for one full-time teaching position. Livingston was originally included with teachers Ann Russ, Julie Brandt and Mike McHugh as losing their positions due to budget reductions for the 2010-11 school year.
“I certainly regret that this error happened,” added Schwarz.
