Even if the state government shuts down Friday, the weather along the North Shore will keep Cook County “open for business.” The National Weather Service in Duluth says there may be a little rain toward the end of the week, but then it looks like we’ll finally have picnic weather.
According to meteorologist Mike Stewart, the 4th of July weekend is shaping up as a good start to summer.
“Over the weekend, maybe a slight chance of showers on Sunday, but other than those -- temperatures in the 70’s as long as we don’t get a lake breeze and lows un the upper 50’s and low 60’s. Actually a nice summer pattern. We’re finally in summer. Looks like we’re going to have more sun than clouds.”
As for Independence Day itself, it could be good for fireworks viewing.
“Right now we’re looking on the Fourth of July itself just a slight chance of thunderstorms with highs around 70. Right now it looks like great weather for fireworks. Temperatures at fireworks time probably in the upper 50’s, low 60’s. Nice sitting out watching the fireworks over the lake.”
