The rumor that the Grand Marais Public Library will close for five months while renovation and new construction is going on is false. However, according to Librarian Linda Chappell, they are looking for an alternative site to be able to continue business as usual.
Chappell told WTIP’s Jay Andersen on “Daybreak” Friday morning, noise, dust and renovation in the old part of the library necessitates a move. Library board members made the decision earlier in the week, but they don’t yet know where their temporary quarters will be.
Wherever they relocate for the summer, there will be internet and access to the Arrowhead Library system catalog. The sooner they find a location, the sooner the move can begin, facilitating the start of construction as early as possible this summer.
