A public meeting will be held Tuesday, Nov. 15, to discuss the Hwy 1 reconstruction project south of Ely between Forest Road 424/New Tomahawk Road and just north of Forest Road 553.

The public meeting is scheduled from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Vermilion Community College, in Ely. A presentation about the project, schedule and detour information will take place at 6:30 p.m.

The project requires a detour that will close Hwy 1 to through-traffic for up to 45 working days sometime during winter 2011-12 and summer 2012.

The meeting will provide an opportunity to discuss the $7,147,559 project with Minnesota Department of Transportation engineers and representatives from KGM Contractors.

This project is the second of three segments on Hwy 1 that will be reconstructed. The first segment was completed in 2008.
