The Cook County Viking football team heads into the playoffs at the top of the Great Polar Red with a perfect 6 and 0 record and a 6 and 1 regular season record. The Vikes clinched the title Wednesday with a 54-6 win over the Chisholm Blue Streaks.

The Vikings now head into the Section 7-A playoffs. The Vikes will play Mesabi East, but the place and time were not available at this time, but it is possible the Vikings could play at home next Tuesday night, Oct. 25 at 6 PM.

WTIP will broadcast the first playoff game with Norman Moe and Dick Dorr providing the play-by-play. If the game is at Lyle Anderson Field, WTIP and Boreal are expected to provide live-streaming video of the game.

According to the Minnesota State High School League, the 18 and 2 Vikings volleyball team will start the Section 7-A playoffs with a home match at 7 p.m. next Wednesday night, Oct. 26.

The Vikings earned the number one seed in one half of Section 7-A which provided a first round bye. The Vikes will play the winner of Monday’s Duluth Marshall-Mesabi East first-round match. Marshall is seeded eighth while Mesabi East is the ninth-seed.

WTIP will broadcast the match next Wednesday night with Bob Carter and Kelly Roberts calling the action. WTIP and Boreal also are planning to provide live video-streaming of the last home match of the season.
