Sam Cook is an outdoor writer for the Duluth News Tribune. WTIP’s “Daybreak” host Jay Andersen asked Sam to comment on the current round of concerns hunters have about the lower than normal deer harvest this past season.

As a matter of coincidence, regular “Speaking for the Birds” commentator Laura Erickson preceded Sam with a piece on treating all animals with respect as living creatures. Her closing comments were picked up bay Sam as a lead-in to his own thoughts about the declining deer harvest.
