It’s National Flag Week, and Monday, June 14th, is Flag Day. Americans are urged to fly the flag this week to commemorate the adoption of the American flag on June 14, 1777 by the Second Continental Congress.  In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation establishing June 14 as Flag Day, and the U.S. Congress made it official in August of 1949.
