Lodging tax revenues for the month of April are down from March county-wide -- a drop tourism experiences this time each year, -- according to the latest report from the Cook County Auditor-Treasurer’s office.

Lutsen-Tofte revenues for the year-to-date are down 2.4%. Grand Marais year-to-date revenues are down 1.8%. The Gunflint Trail revenues for the year so far, however are up 6.4%.  Overall, lodging tax revenues county-wide are down 1.6% for the year-to-date.

The Auditor’s office emphasizes that not all businesses report taxes at the same time each year and revenues are an “apples-to-apples comparison.” That means only businesses which reported lodging tax revenues both in April of this year and last year are included in the monthly accounting.
