The Cook County Local Energy Project (CCLEP), a citizens group whose stated mission is to promote energy efficiency and renewable energy on a local level, has a new project. The organization wants to promote ride and delivery sharing in Cook County.
Rick Schubert, CCLEP tansportation committee member, says, “Our thought was to encourage and facilitate, make it easier for people to find rides with other people or get people to come along with them and save energy, save money, and reduce our carbon footprint.”
The group received a grant from the Lloyd K. Johnson Foundation to fund the ride and delivery share project. CCLEP plans to work with Boreal Access to design and promote a user friendly ride sharing website.
If you would like to join the discussion on ride and delivery sharing in Cook County, the next meeting of the Transportation Working Group is Thursday, Jan. 14 at the Community Center in Grand Marais. More information about CCLEP is available online.
