GRAND MARAIS AREA
According to our fishing expert Jon Muhich of Buck’s Hardware, rumor also has it that the fishing has been pretty decent out there…at least in the evenings for walleyes.

Leeches and minnows are working well for walleyes -- some people are bobber fishing off their docks and getting good fish. Others have gone a little deeper in the 12 to 15 foot range both jigging and drifting live rigs. Some of the area lakes have started their mayfly hatches so things might slow down a little.

Area rainbow lakes are in full swing if you want to try your hand at dunking a few ‘crawlers, and  smallmouth bass are getting more active.

Minnows and leeches are working for walleyes on Saganaga in 15 feet, at Two Island Lake in eight to 10 feet, on East Twin and Crescent Lakes in eight to 12 feet, and at Elbow Lake in eight feet.

Spoons are turning a few lake trout about 40 to 45 feet down at Greenwood and down 25 feet at Sag. Crawlers are producing rainbow trout in 12 feet at Leo and in 18 feet at Trout Lakes.
