GRAND MARAIS AREA
According to our fishing expert Jon Muhich of Buck’s Hardware, cold, rainy weather has slowed down fishing action but it should pick up over the weekend.

People seem to getting walleyes off their docks in the evening. That’s always nice, just toss out a leech on a bobber and wait for dinner. Good evening reports from Seagull and Hungry Jack. Saganga is also reporting some decent action in the 20 foot range or so. Lake trout are hitting at 50 feet or so, jigging spoons.

Reports for walleyes in Canoe Country has been picking up so if you’re headed on a boundary water excursion, don’t forget your gear.

Smallies are hittin’ so grab a pole and start casting spinners or Raps to the shoreline for some fun action. Hungry Jack, Devil Track, Poplar -- all the bass lakes are hitting.

You can try up at Greenwood Lake for some lakers, besides one just might find some brookies in some of the bays.

Speaking of brookies, here are a couple more lakes to try out for those willing to trek a bit. Gadwell Lake, off of Pine Lake requires a very steep climb, but the brookies are nice. However it’s one of those on and off lakes. You could spend a lot of time getting there and not catch a thing. Topper Lake is another one you could check out. It’s up near Mayhew and there are some decent fish to be caught.
