Isle Royale invites public input on cultural landscape report

Isle Royale National Park is holding a public workshop to discuss the development of a Cultural Landscape Report /Environmental Assessment (CLR/EA) for the Washington and Barnum Island area of the park. The workshop will be held on February 17 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Great Lakes Aquarium in Duluth.

The workshop will provide an overview of the initial phase of the assessment, which contains historic research and documentation of the Isle Royale landscape over time; inventory and mapping of existing conditions; and an analysis of character and integrity of the landscape. 

The workshop will also introduce the second phase of the CLR/EA, which will develop alternatives for treatment of the landscape, assess impacts on the island and initiate public review as well as begin work on a recommended treatment plan.
