Due to heavy rainfall, the road surface on Hwy 61 near Split Rock Lighthouse has collapsed. The two-mile gravel stretch at the construction zone has deteriorated to the point that MnDOT is now detouring traffic.

The alternate route is from Stewart River to Beaver Bay using Lake County Hwy 3 and Lake County Hwy 4. Both are low speed roads, so allow extra time to reach your destination.
