Honors go to five Vikings volleyball players

Three members of the Cook County Vikings’ 2011 volleyball team have been selected for all-conference honors and spots in the All-Polar League Match next Tuesday, November 15, in Esko.

Two more were selected for Academic All-State Honors.

Ashley Deschampe was selected first team all-conference. She scored 223 kills and 247 digs in the season just completed. She also was selected as an Academic All-Stater.

Ali Iverson and Bekah Laky were each selected to the second team all-conference. Iverson finished the season 14th in the state in blocks and ace serves. She had 51 ace serves, 57 solo blocks and 118 kills for 2011.

Laky had 251 set assists and 274 assists for the Vikings.

CeCe Olsen and Michaela Buchheit were also named as Academic All-Staters. A 3.8 average or better is needed for this honor.
