The Cook County Vikings football team is travelling to highly regarded Deer River Saturday for a 2 PM semi-final round Section 7-A playoff game.

The Saturday game follows another impressive victory last night by Cook County that puts them at 7 and 1 for the season.

Cook County rolled over Mesabi East last night 54 to 16 in the home playoff opener at Lyle Anderson Field in Grand Marais.

The Vikings wracked up 28 points in the first half while holding the Giants scoreless. The Vikings added 24 points in the second half while Mesabi East scored 16 late in the game. The victory put the Vikings at 7 and 1 for the season while the Giants dropped to 2 and 6.

Number three seeded Cook County has its work cut out for them when they go to second seed Deer River on Saturday for the 2 PM semi-final round game against the Warriors. Deer River is ranked number four in the final Associated Press’ Minnesota Class A football poll.
