A Duluth city councilman today announced his plans to challenge U.S. Rep. Chip Cravaack in Minnesota's 8th Congressional District.

The Associated Press reports Jeff Anderson as saying he's been hearing from an increasing number of residents, including some who voted for Cravaack, who are "not impressed" with the way the Republican freshman congressman has represented the district.

Anderson, 34, is a small business owner and radio sales executive in Duluth. Anderson says Cravaack's "extreme Tea Party views" aren't in line with the district's constituents. Cravaack unseated 18-term Democrat Jim Oberstar in November.

The 8th District covers portions of 18 counties in northeastern Minnesota.
