A deal to end the two-week partial shutdown of the Federal Aviation Administration should mean that construction of the Duluth International Airport’s new terminal will stay on track for completion next year.

$16.5 million in air service subsidies go to 13 rural communities.

The shutdown had threatened the construction schedule of the new Duluth terminal, dimming hopes of its opening on time in 2012. But as long as Congress acts the schedule still could be saved.
