The U.S. Forest Service says drivers should be careful using roads in the Superior National Forest this spring.

Melting snow along with partially thawed conditions makes for hazardous driving in some areas. Some of those hazards include soft roadbeds, washouts and water across roads.

The Forest Service says these conditions are widespread across the forest and may last for two to three more weeks depending on the weather.

Officials warn that if you come across these conditions, it’s better to turn around than risk getting stuck in the mud or trapped in deep or moving water.
