DNR seeks comments on Finland area lake and stream management plans

Each year, The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) fisheries staff prepares or revises individual lake and stream management plans for several waters in each management area.

The DNR is currently reviewing strategies for managing several lakes and streams in the Finland area.  Comments and questions from the public are being accepted until Monday, Feb. 28.

According to the DNR, management plans describe the past, present and desired future conditions of the waters and identify specific activities planned for a particular lake or stream over the next five to 20 years.

In the Finland area, plans for the following lakes and streams will be reviewed.

In Cook County:

• Beth Lake (BWCAW)

In Lake County:
• South Wigwam Lake
• Lost Lake
• Kawishiwi Lake (BWCAW)
• Malberg Lake (BWCAW)
• Koma Lake (BWCAW)
• Balsam Lake
• Dumbbell Lake
• Lax Lake
• Osier Lake
• Eighteen Lake
• Redskin Lake
• Bog Lake (BWCAW)
• Surprise Lake
• Middle & North McDougal Lakes
• Highlife Lake
• Eikela Lake
• Section Eight Lake
• Beaver Hut Lake
• Cramer Lake
• Balsam Creek
• East Branch Beaver River
• Junction Creek
• South Branch Manitou River
• Moose Creek
• Rockcut Creek
• Split Rock River
