Detour at Southbound Highway 61/London Road in Duluth until late August

The Minnesota Department of Transportation reports that southbound Highway 61/London Road will be closed for flood-related culvert and road repairs from now through late August.
The detour is necessary because a large culvert beneath Highway 61/London Road was damaged heavily during the June 19-20 rainstorm. The road adjacent to the culvert was undermined.
Southbound motorists on the Highway 61 Expressway from Two Harbors will detour onto Superior Street to 54th Street and then back on to Highway 61/London Road.
Motorists traveling north on Highway 61/London Road will not have to detour. However, drivers will encounter a few traffic shifts within the construction area.
The work is expected to take until late August.
