Cravaack sets town-hall meeting in Duluth
U.S. Rep. Chip Cravaack has scheduled an open town-hall meeting today at the Duluth airport.
Critics have accused Cravaack of avoiding the 8th Congressional District's largest population and media center during the August recess. The freshman Republican's only free, open-to-all meetings took place in areas far from Duluth – Grand Portage and Deer River.
About 50 protesters waited Tuesday outside a Duluth restaurant where Cravaack held a lunch meeting with members of the National Federation of Independent Businesses. Cravaack saw the crowd, walked over and said he would be at the Duluth airport at 4 p.m. today.
Cravaack contends he's gone out into remote areas of his northeastern Minnesota district to make sure people have access. He says he decided to hold today's town hall after his schedule opened up.
