Two sets of hazardous waste disposal dates have been set. According to the county’s planning director and solid waste officer Tim Nelson, the Household Hazardous Waste dates are June 12 and September 18 at the Recycling Center in Grand Marais.

Waste Electronics will be accepted at the Center on May 22 and August 28. Household and electronic waste will be accepted on all four date from 9am to 1pm.

Nelson told county commissioners Tuesday that a special electronics waste pick-up will be held at the Tofte Transfer Station on the Sawbill Trail, June 5 from 9 to 1. He said the pick-up was popular last year, so it will be repeated.

In other county news, Commissioners will begin interviewing candidates for County Highway Engineer the afternoon of May 11. The county has received four applications. Current engineer, Shae Kosmalski is set to leave her position on April 28.
