Proposed changes to the Cook County fee schedulewere tabled for two weeks. Fee increases for some highway department, environmental health and planning and zoning services need further scrutiny, according to Commissioner Bob Fenwick, and fellow commissioners agreed.
The board wants to review the over one dozen changes in fees with regard to their impact on the budget and whether or not they are mandated by the state or county ordinance. Ten pages of fees for everything from purchase of a county road map ($3.00) to a 16 unit planned unit development permit ($1,425) is on the fee schedule.
Commissioners were particularly interested in increases for septic compliance inspections, planning and zoning administrative subdivision fees as well as fees the highway department charges for snow winging. Planning Director Tim Nelson will bring the requested information to the board at their July 13th meeting.
Nelson told commissioners local contractor Mitch Everson changed his mind and re-applied for the Environmental Health Officer position vacated by retiring Leroy Halberg. Everson was the only fully qualified applicant for the position. He will begin part time July 6 and be full time starting in August.
