County 1% sales tax revenue up this year

The Cook County Auditor’s office as released 18-month figures for collection of the 1% local option sales tax – and the fund is growing faster this year.

From May of 2010 through October of this year, the county has taken in $1,773,000. The 2011 collection has seen a 5.6% increase in revenue, or $35,250 more than in 2010.

The largest 1% increases came this year in May, July, August and September. This year August alone brought in $21,795 more in 1% sales tax dollars than the same month last year.
