Cook County GOP goes Santorum, DFL for Nolan in the 8th

Cook County Republican Caucus-goers went for Rick Santorum. According to local GOP party Secretary Mary Petz, Santorun garnered 33 of the 67 votes cast last night.

Twenty votes went to Ron Paul, six to Romney and four to Gingrich. There were two undecided GOP votes and one for John Davis Jr. and one “for anyone who can beat Obama.”

The Cook County GOP Convention is Feb. 28.

On the DFL side, 66 caucus straw poll votes out of a total of 70 went to former Congressman Rick Nolan in his bid to represent the 8th District in Congress. Taryl Clark and Jeff Anderson each received one vote.

According to DFL caucus reporter Denny FitzPatrick, President Obama won 99 percent of the presidential votes.

DFLers offered resolutions opposing sulfide mining if they threatened local waters and endorsing ranked voting for state and local elections.

The DFL County Convention is March 10.
