Cook County Community Foundation funds eight local organizations

The Cook County Community Fund has granted more than $7,000 to non-profit organizations in Cook County for 2010
 
Grant recipients include $500 to the Cook County Coalition of Lake Associationsto conduct citizen workshops; $1,000 to Cook County Higher Education for a guest lecture series, and $1,500 to the Grand Marais Art Colony for a kid’s art program.
 
The Just Kids Dental Health program received $1,000 for school-based clinics; The North Shore Collaborative also received $1,000 for a project featuring learning opportunities through stories. The North Shore Health Care Foundation received $800 for care partners patient and family educational materials.
 
North Shore Music Association received $500 to help fund the Brass Messengers during Fisherman’s Picnic and $800 went to Sugarloaf North Shore Stewardship Association for a summer program at Sugarloaf Cove.
 
The Cook County Community Fund is an affiliate fund of the Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation. A special reception will be held for the grantees on July 13. For more information regarding the event, call 387-2538. Since being established in 2003, the Cook County Community Fund has awarded over $28,000 in grants to the Cook County Region.
