The filing period for city and ISD166 school board and North Shore Hospital board positions is underway through Aug.17. So far a few candidates have filed for city and hospital, none for school board at this time.

As of today, Alden (Dave) Palmer has filed for city council and former Mayor Mark Sandbo is seeking that seat again.  Neither current Mayor Sue Hakes nor city councilor Kay Costello is eligible to file for re-election.

Costello’s seat and that of fellow council member Bill Lenz are in play this election, however councilors do not represent districts and run city-wide.

Three positions are open for ISD166. Incumbent Mary Sanders has filed in District 3. Districts 1 and 5 remain open.

Three North Shore Hospital and Care Center board positions are also open. Incumbent Sharon Bloomquist has filed in District 1, incumbent Howard Abrahamson has filed for District 3 and incumbent Tom Spence, Sr. has filed in District 5.

Filing for city offices is at City Hall weekdays, 8am to 5pm. School and hospital filings are at the Cook County Courthouse during regular hours.
