Can uncertainty be motivating? Psychologist Ayelet Fishbach's research says yes

A new study to appear in an upcoming edition of the Journal of Consumer Research finds that uncertainty can be rewarding...specifically, that people put more effort into winning an uncertain reward. The lead author of the study, Dr. Ayelet Fishbach of the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, joined Ann Possis recently to explain.
