The old Shore Theater building in downtown Grand Marais is being dismantled. The building became a concern for the city of Grand Marais after a piece of the building’s cement façade fell onto the sidewalk a couple years ago. Once a movie house, it closed sometime in the late sixties to early seventies and has been vacant for many years. Rick Crawford, the contractor hired to tear the building down, expects to finish the job by the end of next week. In this interview, Cook County native Buck Benson shares some of his memories of growing up in Cook County with the theater.
