Beargrease dog sled marathon cancelled

The John Beargrease Board of Directors has announced the cancellation of the 2012 race. Poor snow conditions will not allow the race to be run safely.
The board cited the safety of the mushers, dogs and volunteers as their number one concern.
While the race will not be running, the other race week events will continue. On Friday January 27 at 6 p.m. the Gala and Silent Auction event will be held at the Greysolon Ballroom in Duluth. Followed by the popular “Cutest Puppy” contest held on Saturday January 28, 11 a.m. at Fitger’s.
The board thanks the community of Duluth and the entire North Shore for its support of the John Beargrease Dog Sled Marathon.
