Dr. Leonard Sax is a psychologist and family physician. He will be in Cook County Oct 2, to talk with parents, teachers and interested community members about building youth assets inn the home and community.

He is the author of three books for parents: Why Gender Matters, Boys Adrift and Girls on the Edge.

WTIP’s Jay Andersen spoke with Dr. Sax in preparation for a First Thursday Community Conversation broadcast on “Asset Building for Kids.”

Dr. Sax first addressed rural vs suburban student expectations for high school, college and future jobs. He then talked about the effects of social media on young people and how it differs between boys and girls.
