Construction continues at city's public works facility
Construction work continues at the Grand Marais Public Works Facility, at the former Tomteboda Resort property in Grand Marais. The huge cast-in-place concrete panels are being installed today.
Trucks with the large panels are lined up on Highway 61 at the site, waiting as a crane lifts and places the panel walls.
Grand Marais Mayor Jay Arrowsmith DeCoux says McGough Construction expects all of the walls to be erected by the end of the day.
McGough Construction has been hired to serve as the construction manager for the estimated $5 million public works facility. When hired, the firm agreed to reduce its construction management fee from 4.5 percent of the project cost to 2.5 percent.
McGough was also hired as a “construction manager at risk,” which means all contracts for the project are assigned to them.
