The barren spot at North Shore Health--between the hospital and care center wings--will no longer be a vacant space if a group of citizens reach their goal. It is hoped that the empty space outside patient rooms will become a "Serenity Garden."

Plans are well under way and nearly enough funds have been raised to develop the Serenity Garden, which is a healing natural area for patients and families to observe out their rooms or to visit.

The team of people working to create this space are inviting the public to learn more. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, people are not able to tour the site of the future Serenity Garden. However, an online meeting will be held on Saturday, June 6 to provide more information and drawings of the proposal.

If you would like to learn more, contact Mary Sanders at [email protected] or call Mary at 218-387-1729.

If you want to attend the online meeting, be sure to contact Mary before noon on Thursday, June 4, so you can be added to the online invite for the meeting.

WTIP's Rhonda Silence spoke with two of the women behind this project. Here's their conversation.
