The Birch Grove building in Tofte has had an interesting history. Once owned and operated by School District 166, it is now owned and operated by the Township of Tofte.  The building houses a community center, school and a branch office of Sawtooth Mountain Clinic. How to keep the center open for the communities of Tofte, Lutsen and Schroeder has been a challenge.

Last fall, a community consenses process was launched and in March, the consensus group completed its work. At the end of June, the township adopted the consensus agreement. Rhonda Silence hears from the township in this interview with Tofte Supervisor Craig Horak.
