Cell coverage coming to the Gunflint Trail by 2019

Some view stepping from a restaurant up the Gunflint Trail and being able to call Minneapolis on their cell phone as a good concept. Other people think the remoteness of eating a meal in such a location should be about getting away from technology, and that calls on cell phones or sending a text message should be kept away from life up the Trail.

Indeed, cell phone coverage up the Gunflint Trail has been an issue for many years.

Some want cell coverage on the Trail. Others don’t.

By as early as 2019, the debate will over and there will be cell coverage up the Gunflint Trail, as WTIP’s Joe Friedrichs finds out in this report.
