Community Christmas Concert: Rehearsals & Reflections
-This year’s performances of the annual Community Christmas Concert in Grand Marais drew capacity crowds, December 4 & 5th. In this feature, WTIP volunteer Mark Abrahamson talks with conductor and composer Bill Beckstrand, now in his second year as director. Mark also recorded parts of the final rehearsal and spoke with orchestra and chorus members.

-Bob spoke Nov. 25 with Gabriel Ayala, recently named 2011 Artist of the Year at the Native American Music Awards for his album “Passion, Fire and Grace.” Ayala is a classical guitarist and has developed a new genre he calls ‘jazzmenco’.

-Bob talked Nov. 11 with Frank Moe, local dog musher and former MN legislator, about the upcoming Legacy Destination Weekend in Cook County, and the origin and use of the Legacy Funds designated by MN voters in 2008.
