Monday (Oct. 12) kicks off a special week of local election coverage at WTIP. Highlighting the coverage are four candidate forums that air live each night starting at 7 p.m. The forums are one hour each.

We’ll open the forums with the two mayoral candidates from Grand Marais, followed Tuesday night with the four candidates vying for two seats on the Grand Marais City Council.

On Wednesday we turn to the county board and the District 1 primary, where three candidates look to advance to the general election that will take place in early 2021. To complete the forums, we talk Thursday night with the four candidates who advanced through the August primaries and aim to serve for District 4 and District 2.

The forums will be in a group format over Zoom and broadcast live on the air. They will rebroadcast the following day at noon and 5 p.m. (note, the candidate forum that airs live Oct. 15 will rebroadcast at noon and 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19.)

Throughout the week WTIP will also feature various other interviews and segments specific to our local election coverage, including an interview with Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon.

Many Cook County residents have received their ballots. Election Day is Nov. 3.
