Bear problems abound in North Shore area and throughout Cook County

A dry June and a current shortage of natural foods in our local woods are causing more bear-human conflicts in both Cook and Lake counties this summer as bears seek out food sources at homes, cabins and campsites near the North Shore and surrounding area.

Andrew Tri is a bear biologist for the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. He spoke with WTIP’s Mark Abrahamson about problem bears as the summer of 2020 starts to wind down.
