Back to school planning in a pandemic: A WTIP community conversation
On July 30, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz announced his “Safe Learning Plan” for schools to follow when classes resume in September. The state plan calls for a “localized, data-driven approach” in dealing with school during the COVID-19 pandemic. Just what does that mean for our schools here on the North Shore?
On August 12, WTIP’s Rhonda Silence hosted a live community conversation program with representatives from local schools in Cook County to find out the details on planning for the 2020-21 school year.
Joining Rhonda on the program via Zoom were:
--Megan Myers, principal of School District 166
--Peter James, director of Great Expectations School
--Carmen Keyport, director of Oshki Ogimaag Community School
--Diane Blanchette of Birch Grove Community School
--Chad Benesh of the Cook County Education Association (the teachers' association at School District 166)
--Cook County Public Health Supervisor Grace Grinager.
The audio posted below is what aired live August 12 on WTIP.
