Armored truck crashes in Tofte

An armored truck attempted to pass another vehicle on Highway 61 near Tofte on Friday afternoon, November 17, and ended up going off the road.
 
A Loomis armored truck was traveling south on Highway 61 just after 11 a.m. when it attempted to pass another vehicle near mile marker 84. The driver, Mathias Daniel Finch, 23, of Eveleth, Minnesota lost control and the vehicle entered the ditch, rolling and then landing upright.
 
Neither Finch nor his passenger, John Michael Leppke, 22, of Duluth needed medical attention. Both were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.
 
The Minnesota State Patrol reports that the road was covered with snow and ice.
