The National Weather Service in Duluth is still expecting a winter storm to move through the Northland tonight through Tuesday. The heaviest snow accumulation will be across northern Minnesota, generally north of a line from Grand Rapids to Hibbing to Virginia and east to Silver Bay.

The first band of snow will move into north-central and northeast Minnesota tonight, followed by a possible break or a period of flurries or light freezing drizzle. Snow will ramp up again Monday afternoon.

The heaviest snow will fall Monday night and Tuesday and will make travel difficult with snow covered roads and visibility less than one-quarter mile at times. Snow will taper to showers late Tuesday afternoon, with light snow showers lingering in northeast Minnesota overnight, and lake-effect snow in northwest Wisconsin through Wednesday and possibly into Thursday.

A broad area of 8 to 14 inches of snow is expected across northern Minnesota with lower totals and less 1 to 4 inches of snow Wednesday and Wednesday night. Roads will become snow covered and slippery Monday night and early Tuesday as the heaviest snow occurs over northern Minnesota. Visibility will be reduced to less than one-quarter mile at times.
