The Cook County Sheriffs Office has paged its emergency responders to let them know that emergency 911 service has been restored. However, it appears that phone service is out on the Gunflint Trail. Century Link and True North are aware of the problem and are working to restore service.

Earlier today, Cook County was among several counties impacted by a Century Link 911 outage.  According to Valerie Marasco of Cook County Emergency Services, the cause was apparently a failed switch in Duluth.

During such outages, all Cook County Fire Halls are staffed and Cook County Sheriff’s Deputies  patrol throughout the county, and are connected to 911 Dispatch through the ARMER radio system.

Sawtooth Mountain clinic phone lines were also down. It is believed that the problem has been resolved. Anyone who has problems reaching the clinic can do so  online via the Patient Portal with non-urgent messages; email to Patty Doherty, RN, at [email protected]; or for urgent messages ONLY, call 218-370-2286
