Isle Royale, the small island laying about 15 miles offshore from Grand Portage, was once home to a thriving community of fishermen and their families, as well as resort and cabin visitors.  Isle Royale has been the summer home for many generations. Those connections are explored in this series by WTIP's Rhonda Silence.

Tobin's Harbor is the historic home of the Mattson family

Lou Mattson's parents first came to Tobin's Harbor in the 1890s. They operated the Mattson fishery for many years and in this interview, Lou recalls his childhood days at the fishery.

Sally Orsborn recalls life at Captain Kidd Island

The members of the Isle Royale Families and Friends Association gather each year to talk about life in Isle Royale National Park. Along with talk about life leases and volunteer-in-the-park programs, there is a lot of reminiscing.
