Elements of Craft: Stones

Elements of Craft returns in 2020! This radio series and podcast focuses on natural materials used by artisans, in partnership with North House Folk School.

This episode looks at stones- How they can be used to make tools or beautiful jewelry, with a focus on the geology and types of rock you may find on the North Shore of Lake Superior.

Elements of Craft is a podcast and radio series about natural materials that make up traditional crafts. In this edition, we look at uses for wood from the cedar tree. Hear about different types of cedar from Minnesota to the Pacific Northwest, and explore drum-making, traditional carving, and canoe building with the material.

Elements of Craft: Plants and Herbs

Elements of Craft is a podcast and radio series produced between WTIP and North House Folk School looking at traditional crafts and natural materials in our area.

Medicinal herbs and edible plants are all around us - if you know where to look, and how to use them. Will Moore visits with North House Folk School herbalist instructors Monarda Thrasher and Gigi Stafne as they explore the nearby flora of Grand Marais, Minnesota.
