The old Shore Theater building in downtown Grand Marais is being dismantled. Once a movie house, it closed sometime in the late sixties to early seventies and has been vacant for many years. The theater originally opened in 1937 and sat 310 people. The deteriorating building has been a concern for the city of Grand Marais. A couple years ago a piece of the building’s cement facade fell onto the sidewalk. Rick Crawford, the contractor hired to tear the building down, expects to finish the job by the end of next week.
